SME Bank Will Proceed with SME Microfinancing

SME Bank (Vnesheconombank group) acted as a partner of the Х National Micro-Finance Conference “New Decade - New Challenges: Regulation as a Development Driver” held in Moscow on November 16-18, 2011. The conference was organized by the National Association of Microfinance Market Stakeholders (NAMMS) and supported by the Russian Microfinance Center, the Association of Russian Banks, OPORA ROSSII and other professional associations.

At the opening session the participants were welcomed by Mikhail Mamuta, President of NAMMS, Director of the Russian Microfinance Center. He emphasized the importance of the state microfinance programs implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development, Vnesheconombank and SME Bank.



Mikhail Kopeikin, Member of the Board - Deputy Chairman of the Board of Vnesheconombank reported that last year the size of SME support via microfinance organizations was RUB  1 billion and at the beginning of 2012 it will reach RUB 2.5 billion and by  2015 - up to RUB 4 billion.

Olesia Teploukhova, Member of the Board - Deputy Chairman of the Board of SME Bank said that the Bank has a market share of nearly 14% in micro financing. 32 microfinance organizations in 64 Russian regions are partners of SME Bank

The plenary meeting was attended by Alexei Savatyugin; Russian Deputy Finance Minister; Garegin Tosunyan, President of the Association of Russian Banks; Pavel Sigal, Vice-President of OPORA ROSSII, representatives from the Federal Service for Financial Markets, the Federal Service for Financial Monitoring, Russian and foreign microfinance experts.
